Cerus Corporation is a biomedical products company focused in the field of blood safety. The INTERCEPT Blood System is designed to reduce the risk of transfusion-transmitted infection by inactivating a broad range of pathogens such as viruses, bacteria and parasites that may be present in donated blood. INTERCEPT targets nucleic acids thereby inactivating and preventing further replication of established transfusion threats, such as HBV, HCV, HIV, WNV, and bacteria, as well as emerging pathogens such as Chikungunya and dengue. The process also reduces the number of T cells (white blood cells) to a level that lowers the risk or transfusion associated graft versus host disease (TA-GvHD). The INTERCEPT Blood System for platelets and plasma is FDA approved for use in the United States. The INTERCEPT red blood cell system is in clinical development. Learn more >

Nothing is more important than being sure. Developed by Hologic as part of its long-standing partnership with Grifols, the Procleix® assays have significantly improved the safety of the world's supply of donated blood and plasma by directly detecting the genetic material of viruses such as HIV-1 and hepatitis C. The availability of the Grifols Procleix products, combined with broader (newer?) screening techniques and stronger public health policies, have helped reduce the risk of contracting these dangerous diseases from a blood transfusion to approximately 1 in 2,000,000 in the U.S. alone. This portfolio of Grifols Procleix assays is built on Hologic’s innovative amplification and detection technologies, including target capture and transcription-mediated amplification (TMA). The Procleix assays and systems are manufactured by Hologic, Inc. and commercialized globallyby Grifols. To learn more about the Procleix NAT Solutions portfolio and products, visit www.procleix.com.
