Wegovy HD 7.2 mg: the new injection option
The current Wegovy label includes a 7.2 mg weekly injection called Wegovy HD. The old site's blanket statement that Wegovy stops at 2.4 mg is no longer accurate.

Where the higher dose fits
Wegovy still begins with the standard weekly escalation from 0.25 mg. For the labeled adult weight-management population, a prescriber may increase to 7.2 mg after at least 4 weeks at 2.4 mg if additional weight reduction is clinically indicated and treatment is tolerated.
The label's indication and dosing limits matter. The HD option should not be applied automatically to adolescent treatment, MASH, or another indication because those uses have their own maintenance recommendations. Discuss whether a change is appropriate rather than assuming the highest dose is a treatment goal.

A distinct presentation needs training
Check the exact product and presentation supplied by the pharmacy. A 7.2 mg pen is not a reason to use multiple older pens, count clicks, or alter a device. Use the Instructions for Use that come with the prescribed product.
Presentation changes can affect administration and storage instructions. Have the pharmacist demonstrate unfamiliar equipment, and ask who handles a malfunction or uncertain dose. Do not repeat an injection simply because you are unsure whether it was delivered.

Older trials do not settle this comparison
SURMOUNT-5 compared tirzepatide with semaglutide at 1.7 or 2.4 mg weekly. It did not include 7.2 mg semaglutide. Its result cannot be used to claim that tirzepatide beats or loses to Wegovy HD.
The current Wegovy label describes evidence and adverse reactions for the higher dose, including more frequent altered skin sensations in the relevant study. Evaluate the higher dose's tolerability and benefit with a clinician rather than projecting an individual's response from an average.

Cost, safety, and ongoing care
NovoCare pricing distinguishes Wegovy HD from standard injection and tablet offers. Check the prescribed presentation and long-term price, particularly after promotional fills. Insurance authorization for one formulation may not establish coverage for another.
The product retains the semaglutide contraindications and important warnings. Persistent severe gastrointestinal symptoms, dehydration, or severe abdominal pain need medical assessment. Re-escalation after missed consecutive injections should follow the current label with the prescriber.
