Wegovy and MASH: an indication with important limits
Wegovy injection has a specific indication for noncirrhotic metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis with moderate-to-advanced liver fibrosis. This does not mean every person with fatty liver needs this treatment.

The population and approval pathway
The current Wegovy label specifies noncirrhotic MASH with moderate-to-advanced fibrosis consistent with stages F2–F3 in adults. The indication received accelerated approval based on improvement in MASH and fibrosis; continued approval may depend on confirmation of clinical benefit.
That is a narrower claim than preventing every liver complication or reversing all fatty liver disease. Diagnosis and fibrosis assessment belong to the clinical team, not to interpretation of a mildly abnormal liver enzyme result on a review site.

Do not transfer the indication across formulations
Wegovy injection, Wegovy tablets, and Wegovy HD are distinct formulation and dose choices within the label. The MASH maintenance recommendation should be read directly; the newer tablet or highest injection dose does not automatically carry the same treatment instructions.
A clinician should select the product and follow-up for the diagnosed condition. Compounded semaglutide cannot inherit the approved injection's MASH indication or evidence simply because it mentions the same ingredient.

Liver care remains broader than one medicine
Ask the liver-care team about fibrosis assessment, relevant laboratory monitoring, other conditions, and management of cardiovascular and metabolic risks. Weight change and liver enzymes may inform care but do not alone establish resolution of MASH or fibrosis.
Continue the agreed nutrition, activity, and medical follow-up. The appropriate monitoring schedule depends on diagnosis and the individual's overall health rather than one universal GLP-1 laboratory bundle.

Risk and access need separate assessment
Semaglutide's contraindications and warnings still apply, including severe gastrointestinal effects and dehydration-related kidney injury. Discuss symptoms, other medicines, and planned procedures with the care team.
Confirm coverage for the actual indication and product. An approval announcement is not proof of insurance payment or that a particular patient meets treatment criteria.
